To make your trip to Japan more interesting

Nature (general)

Kanmurijima, Kyoto Prefecture is an uninhabited island(京都府冠島は無人島である)

Kanmurijima is located off the coast of Maizuru City, Kyoto Prefecture, one of the big cities on the Sea of Japan side. No one lives. I have been to this island by chartering a ship in July 2017. The purpose was to investigate cicadas.

The target cicada could not be found.

Since it is a breeding ground for Streaked Shearwaters and is designated as a national natural monument, a landing permit was required through the Maizuru City Hall. We also needed the permission of the locals who worshiped this island as the island of God. The procedure in advance was troublesome, but the excitement of going to an uninhabited island was quite impressive.
